Good morning everyone! I’m really excited to share my three favorite tips for beautiful and easier bulletin boards:
Tip #1: Fabric
Use fabric for your background! You can use a cheap flat sheet from Walmart or Target, or you buy yardage of fabric from places like Hobby Lobby and Joann’s (both have teacher discounts and coupons!). I have had the same bulletin board fabric for three years now and it still looks just as good as the day I purchased it. The best part is you can throw it in the washer when it starts to look dirty and it’s good as new!
Tip #2: Push Pins
Use push pins to hold up your background, borders, and bulletin board items while you get the placement down. This has saved me so much time and trouble over the years because I’m sort of a perfectionist, and it will bug me all day long if my board is uneven. Once you know where you want everything to go and it’s all lined up, all you have to do is staple and remove the push pins and you’re done!
Tip #3: Double Border
Double up on your borders! This makes a huge difference in the visual impact of your board. Here’s my favorite combo from this year:
What are your tips for doing bulletin boards?

I love the double layered borders too. I used a black and white polka dot with green and white stripes this year and love it!!!

That sounds really cute, Amy! I saw the borders on your blog, but I would love to see the completed board if you get a chance (or maybe I missed it?) Thanks for stopping by!

I'm glad I can help! Your first year can be so hard and so awesome at the same time. I love the saying "Teaching is the hardest job you'll ever love." It sums it up perfectly. Good luck this year!

A crockpot is definitely a necessity! At my house, we do Slow Cooker Sunder every single Sunday. This gives us a chance to spend a few more minutes of quality time together at night and makes getting things ready for Monday morning just a little easier.
Rachel says
That sounds great, Courtney! I live alone so I usually just freeze the extras and have them for lunch at school, so it's a win-win!

I agree….crockpot meals can be my saving grace through the year! Simple and delish!

There's nothing like coming home to the smell of a fresh meal, and you didn't even have to do much 🙂

I am looking for a teacher binder, too! And I've thought about creating one…not sure I want to dive into or not :o/
Found your blog through Currently and I am your newest follower. Would love for you to head over and check out my blog! I am so close to 100 followers and I am having a classroom theme bundle giveaway!

If You Give a Teacher a Treat
Rachel says
It seems like a huge undertaking, but if I make my own teacher binder, I can put exactly what I need in there. Decisions, decisions!

I might have to go hunting for that cup at Target tomorrow. I usually use the tumblers but they always seem to break on me. I just bought 2 new ones at Target for school and they're already broken! I also double border my bulletin boards and think they look great.
Rachel says
I hope you were able to find the cup, Mrs. Shepherd. I love mine! It's held up really well, and I haven't been very gentle with it either.
